A Note From the Headmaster
The Kearsney family is proud to present to you a glimpse of our great school. It is here that new boys arrive “tossed on an ocean of shock and change”, soon to be transformed into young gentlemen and later into passionate, loyal Old Boys taking their place in the world economy.
Every boy at Kearsney should be given his place in the sun. We are proud not only of our Old Boys who have gone to become national cricket and rugby players but also our businessmen, artists, politicians and missionaries; people who have followed their dreams. At Kearsney these boys were given the opportunity to develop and hone their interests and skills and have made their mark in the world.
The pursuit of excellence in academic, cultural and sporting spheres is a hallmark of our endeavours. Facilities, staffing and support to achieve this are given a high priority. Boys are given individual attention in an attempt to develop their potential to the maximum. We must be serious about what we do, yet light-hearted enough to laugh at ourselves.
In recent years the mentorship programme has been developed to lay to rest the vestiges of the negative aspects of the “cut and thrust” of a boys’ school. Each Grade 8 is paired with a Grade 11 boy whose responsibility is to mentor the younger one, to care for him and to ensure that the transition into Kearsney is a smooth as possible. The boys mentorship lasts two years. At the same time there is a healthy staff-boy mentorship where small groups of boys meet with a staff member after chapel every day to discuss issues, interact and to give opportunity for sound moral values to be instilled in a relaxed setting.
I am proud to present Kearsney to you in this website. If after reading this you would like to know more please contact us and we’ll show you around our beautiful campus, introduce you to staff members and let you talk informally to some of our boys. It would be our privilege.
