Master’s degree with distinction from Oxford

Alex von Klemperer (Class of 2006, Dux of the College), who attends Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship, has been awarded his Master’s degree with distinction. He was one of only five in the class of twenty-two to achieve this remarkable feat.

The Rhodes Scholarship covers his Alex’s Masters in Neuroscience and two years of his D Phil. After his achievement in his Master’s degree, Alex was awarded the prestigious Clarendon Scholarship for the final year of his D Phil. Clarendon scholars are selected by experts in their fields based on outstanding academic merit and potential. New SA record for 400m freestyle

Congratulations to Myles Brown (Class of 2010), who, at the African Championships broke the Championship 400m freestyle record of another Kearsney Old Boy, Troyden Prinsloo, which had stood for 12 years. His time was 3:54.80 to Troy’s time of 3:57.30. Troy matriculated with the class of 2004.

Earlier in the year, Myles Brown set a new South African record in the 400m freestyle at the Olympic Games in Rio, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to get him through to the semis in that event.
