The 23rd annual Kearsney College National Tennis Festival, in which eight of the country’s top tennis-playing schools take part, will take place from 18 to 20 May 2018.

Participating schools are Affies and Pretoria Boys High, both from Pretoria, Grey College from Bloemfontein, Paul Roos and Rondebosch Boys’ High from the Western Cape, Selborne College from East London and hosts Kearsney and Clifton College from KwaZulu-Natal.

The festival has become a highlight on the national schools’ tennis calendar and this year 56 competitors (seven per team) and 20 support coaches and staff will enjoy the event. An incredibly high standard of tennis is always evident from the top junior players in the country.

Kearsney’s team comprises Kade Mindry, Scott Bentley (captain), Greg Cobbledick, Meerten van Wyk, Tristan Sebire, Sahil Chetty, Bryce van der Merwe and Matthew McMurray.

Play will take place on the courts at Kearsney College, as well as Highbury and St Mary’s schools.  The format is round robin which will yield a semi-final, final, play-off matches and an eventual winner.

Festival organiser and Kearsney MIC of tennis, Anthony Willows said the festival had continued to attract the top South African tennis playing schools thanks to on-going sponsorship from Seeff Properties, Sportsmans Warehouse, Wilson, Alpine Motors and Matchday performance drinks.

Seeff Dolphin Coast sponsor Tim Johnson said ‘As a proud Old Boy and past tennis player, I am very proud to support this important festival and the talented boys participating from some of SA’s most prestigious sporting schools’.

Seeff Hillcrest co-sponsor Gregg Wilson said ‘As a proud local brand in the Upper Highway area, Seeff Hillcrest is involved in the local community and we are thrilled to be associated with one of our leading local schools, Kearsney College, and wish all participants a successful festival’.
