A Tribute to Rutherford Hulett

We celebrate the life of

Rutherford Hulett

In gratitude Rutherford Hulett is acknowledged on the

Kearsney Legacy Society Honours Board

in the Sir Liege Hulett Room for remembering Kearsney in his Will.

His philanthropy contributes to the betterment of the world

through his support of the work of Kearsney College.

 

Rutherford was the eldest son of Albert and Ada Hulett. Albert was the eldest son of Sir Liege and Mary Hulett. Rutherford attended Kingswood College and was a successful sugar cane grower in the Compensation/Umhlali district on one of the eight farms which Sir Liege had endowed to each of his eight children.

Rutherford married Brenda Drury and they had two children, John and Elizabeth. His step daughter, Deidre was the Head Girl at Epworth in 1948.

Rutherford was a Director of Sir J L Hulett and Sons the sugar company founded by his grandfather.
