A Tribute to Guy Muller

Class of 1974

28 December 1957 – 01 February 2017

It is with shock and huge sadness that the Class of ’74 were informed of the passing of Guy Muller and we pass on our sincere condolences to all of Guy’s family.  Guy joined Kearsney in 1970 moving up to Finningley House the following year.  Always modest and with a great sense of humour, Guy enjoyed a very successful career at Kearsney.  He became a School Prefect and Head of Finningley in 1974, and all those of us who were with him can vouch for what a good Head of House he was.  Guy was involved in a significant number of School societies including the School Choir, and he took part in a number of School Dramatic Productions, including the very successful musical production of Oliver in 1972 and culminating in the title role of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar in 1974.  Guy was also a generous contributor to our Class of 1974 Bursary Fund.

Guy attended the University of Witwatersrand where he obtained a B.Sc in Civil Engineering and he went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Engineering.  Whilst at Wits, he excelled as an oarsman and was for a number of years a member of the Wits 1st rowing VIII which successfully competed in a number of international competitions.  Guy had a successful career in business in South Africa, and for the past 20 years he was based in Honduras where he started and built up his own construction business.  He was also instrumental in the installation of a wind turbine project on the island.

Rest in peace, Guy.
