Peer motivation
Two KCOBs who are excelling in their tertiary studies recently
returned from Oxford and Harvard Universities to share and
inspire Kearsney boys.

Alex von Klemperer
(Finningley 2006) was awarded a
prestigious Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University where he is
doing a one-year Masters course in Neuroscience, to be followed

Oxford will not be unfamiliar to Alex, as he spent a one-month
student elective there in 2011, studying clinical neurology. A medical
graduate from the University of Cape Town, he completed his
internship at Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
Greg Royston
(Finningley 2013), who placed in SA’s top five percent
in the 2013 IEB matriculation examinations and was Dux Proximate,
took time to return to Kearsney during his summer break from
Harvard University. A SA Schools golfer who also played golf for
the KZN Men’s team whilst at school, he was accepted directly
from Kearsney to Harvard University. Over his four years as an
undergraduate, Greg will study 32 courses, majoring in Applied
Mathematics and Economics, as well as play golf for the university.
